Financial Information (page 95)

FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Fees and tuition cost are commensurate with other Bible colleges & universities and kept affordable for CTU students. Payment plans student loans, and scholarships are available.

Because the CTU catalog is in effect for several years, the CTU official board and administration reserves the right to revise any of the fees, tuition rates, any other costs and schedules as it deems appropriate.

Since CTU is a Christian school and church-related, it does not participate in any government loan, grant programs, or governmental educational assistance programs.

In addition, CTU is not sponsored by any denomination or association. Therefore, it does not have available significant monetary resources to provide substantial scholarships, grants or loans for persons studying for Christian ministry. We do, however, provide financial assistance in the form of partial scholarships to qualifying-deserving students.

Although the rates at CTU are lower than most schools, its administration realizes that there are still some students who would have difficulty paying for their education. It therefore provides the opportunity for tuition reduction for students able to demonstrate need.

Students desiring financial aid are required to fill out an application for financial assistance. The financial aid committee will review the request and determine any rate of tuition reduction. All such decisions are final. Determinations will be based on the student’s application, comparative need and the university’s capability to help in the designated scholarship areas.

International students have very special rates scaled to the average annual incomes in their respective countries. Special arrangements are sought for payment where funds are not permitted to leave certain countries. If foreign students have family or friends in the USA, they should be encouraged to assist financially. Friends of CTU are requested to consider prayerfully offsetting the expense to the university of educating students abroad.

Following are the various fees and tuition rates for every level at the time of printing this catalog.

The Doctor of Ministry (D. Min.) program (page 80-82)

DOCTOR of MINISTRY

The Doctor of Ministry (DMin) Degree Program offered by Conservative Theological University is a professional degree which is designed to provide qualified students with the opportunity to achieve a high level of competency in the practice of ministry.

The quality of and the success in ministry are often determined by the individual’s ability to communicate both orally and in writing. It is therefore the purpose of the Doctor of Ministry program to refine the spiritual gifts and abilities of the participating student. Through the development of communication, writing, and administrative skills, CTU seeks to train ministers for a more effective leadership role in their ministries.

This degree program is built upon the prerequisite of a qualified masters program (MDiv, ThM). The Doctor of Ministry program of study is comprised of a combination of curricular and academic projects, as well as a dissertation, completed under the supervision of a faculty advisor. The Doctor of Ministry program pursues competency in ministry skills, homiletics, evangelism, cults, pastoral ministry, and Christian Education from previous degree programs, which become the foundational building blocks for the DMin Program.

The DMin Degree program may be structured to focus on individual ministry, (i.e.) evangelism, counseling, Christian Education, missions, and pastoral ministry. Ability in grammar, written, and oral communication as well as oral communication and a laboratory for administrative projects are vital.

The overall purpose for the DMin curriculum is to refine, develop, stimulate, strengthen, and mature the student in the basic knowledge, proficiency, and competency in the areas of leadership, teaching, preaching, and administration.

The curriculum and academic projects are listed in the sequence in which they are to be submitted. Evaluation of completed submissions are made promptly by the faculty advisors. Continuous enrollment is required for the program and all work for the degree program must be completed within three years of initial enrollment.

Additionally, an applicant must demonstrate sufficient rationale for pursuing the degree and active involvement in ministry. Where the applicant’s attainments demonstrate less than normally expected for entrance into the program, special evaluation by the graduate admissions council may be required.

GRADING
All grading is based upon the soundness and competency of the scholarship involved. The student will be required to resubmit all work that receives less than a ‘B’ score. It is assumed that any individual who has attained unto the level of program acceptance is competent for its completion.

TIME FRAME
The normal time for completion of the Doctor of Ministry degree program is 18-24 months. Depending upon one’s self-discipline, less time may be required. Any extension of the program time beyond 36 months must have special approval from CTU and student’s advisor.

STATUS SHEET

Every academic program and degree at CTU has a status sheet. This clearly reflects and lists the specific subject requirements granting semester hours credit per area plus any individual courses.

When a student is accepted, he/she receives the appropriate status sheet for the particular degree program/major. Any transfer credits, CLEP, Bible testing or ministry credit will be shown on the status sheet when received, awarded or earned.

Whenever the student completes a course and receives a grade, both the student and the advisor will record the same course grade on their respective status sheets. Communication is important to make sure the course credits are recorded in the proper place.

It is the student’s responsibility to submit a copy of the completed status sheet with the application for graduation. The registrar’s office must confirm the accuracy of the status sheet and fulfillment of the (degree) program requirements.

It is imperative that care be taken by the student as he works through his program of studies. It is wise to stay in consultation with the advisor, but the ultimate responsibility for fulfilling program requirements is the student’s.

As long as a student stays active, he is to fulfill program requirements according to the Status Sheet given at acceptance.
