Nearly every Christian in America has experienced a doorstep encounter with members of the Jehovah’s Witness religion. In the United states alone, more than 900,000 devotees of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society invest more than 15 million hours monthly in door-to-door missionary work. Their ultimate goal is to gain converts to their peculiar religion, which they feel is the only true Christian body on the earth. To the Christian, the Jehovah’s Witnesses represent a fulfillment of Christ’s warning of “false prophets, who come to your” (Matthew 7:15).
Jehovah’s Witnesses come to your door not because they hate God, but because they are trying to make peace with Him through their countless and fruitless hours of labor. They are in desperate need to hear the saving message of God’s grace through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. Yet, most Christians will allow a closed door, unkind words, or an incomplete testimony to be their witness to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. This is done because Christians are not prepared to meet the challenge of the mission field at their doorstep.
